Hi all
I have recieved quite a lot of mail re the CB to six metre conversions
described in the 10 parts of an article recently . Instead of replying to
each one individually , I will reply in a bullitin , as everyone basically
wanted to know the same thing .
The reason I mentioned a particular chassis part number and not the rig(s)
by name , was that the bullitin went out to SIX@WW , and the same rig will
go under different names in as many countries . The Uniden chassis under
discussion is fitted to a number of local rigs . These include :
Major MSB6205
General Electric 3-5825A (A-model)
Tedelex 6000 ("old" model , pre-1985)
Tedelex 7000
etc
There were also a couple of rigs (the so-called "B"-models) that use the
same synthesizer configuration and similar circuitry , but have the
IF/audio and the synthesizer/switching/RF sections on two separate boards .
These are also good candidates for conversion . The difference is that the
bandpass filter is switched between the RX and TX , opposed to each circuit
having its own tuned circuits as found in the Major chassis . (T204/T205 in
the "B" models , and T8/T9 - T4/T5 in the "A" models . So if you want to
try ane of the "B" model rigs , you will end up winding 2 coils instead of
4 ! The part numbers are even the same , so you can wind them the same way.
T204 is part number 10CA006 and T205 is part number 10CB003 .
The "B" models include:
All of the Midland base stations("old type",PLL02A(G) based synthesizer)
Midland 79-891
Genaral Electric 3-5825(B)
General Electric "Super Base"
etc
I have also done a few so-called "export" rigs ...120 channel all mode (FM/
AM/USB/LSB) . The sections needing modifications were for all intents and
purposes the same , but the synthesizer used a bank of 20 Mc Xtals (3 in
all) in place of the 10.0525 & doubler configuration used in the Uniden
Chassis .
The rigs I had done were the Lafayette 1200FM (also goes under a number of
different brand names)

I hope that this info answers some of your questions . Any other queries
are welcome .(ref to original series for my contact info)
